Obverse

The obverse of the 2015 1/10 oz Gold Eagle features Lady Liberty in front-facing relief, holding a torch in one hand and an olive branch in the other. This iconic image was created by Augustus Saint-Gaudens in 1907 for the $20 Gold Double Eagle.

Reverse

The reverse design features American bald eagles, crafted in 1986 by Miley Busiek. The design portrays a male eagle soaring over the nest as a female eagle guards hatchlings inside.

History

The production cycle from 2010 to 2019 witnessed significant shifts due to global economic and political changes. The 2015-2016 cycle, in particular, experienced a surge in demand, especially for the 1/10 oz and 1 oz Gold Eagles.

Interestingly, the 2015 1/10 oz Gold Eagle had the highest mintage among the four that year, surpassing the 1 oz Gold Eagle by over 300,000 coins. The following year, the 1/10 oz Gold Eagle retained its lead, though its mintage slightly decreased, while the 1 oz gold coin surged in 2016 to narrow the gap.
