This Brilliant Uncirculated Kisatchie National Forest Five Ounce Silver Bullion Coin is the second of 2015 and the 27th overall in the America the Beautiful Coins Program. The reverse design on this silver bullion coin features a wild turkey in flight over blue stem grass with long leaf pine trees in the background. Inscriptions are “KISATCHIE,” “LOUISIANA,” “2015” and “E PLURIBUS UNUM.” Design candidates were developed in consultation with representatives of Kisatchie National Forest.

Spread across seven parishes in Louisiana, Kisatchie National Forest is divided into five managed units called Ranger Districts that total more than 604,000 acres of public lands. Hidden in the bayous underneath the bald cypress groves and old growth pine lies a world of natural beauty, excitement, learning, recreation, and natural and cultural resources. The name Kisatchie is derived from a tribe of Kichai Indians of the Caddoan Confederacy. It was established as a national site in 1936.

The 5 oz silver America The Beautiful Coins (ATB’s) all resemble a Washington quarter but are significantly larger (76.20 millimeter diameter) and contain 99.9% silver at a weight of 155.5 grams. Each coin depicts a United States National Park on the reverse and John Flanagan’s 1932 portrait of George Washington on the obverse. Inscriptions on the obverse are UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRUST, and QUARTER DOLLAR. The edges of these 5 oz silver bullion coins are smooth and contain the incused inscription: .999 FINE SILVER 5.0 OUNCE. The coin will be sent to you in a protective Air-Tite Capsule.
