This Brilliant Uncirculated 2019 Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness Idaho 5 oz Silver America The Beautiful .999 Fine Bullion Coin is the fifth of 2019 and the 50th overall in the America the Beautiful Coins Program. The reverse design of this silver bullion coin depicts a piloted drift boat on the rushing river encompassed by the trees and rock formations of the wilderness. Design candidates were developed in consultation with representatives of the San Antonio Missions. Inscriptions are “RIVER OF NO RETURN WILDERNESS,” “IDAHO,” “2019,” and “E PLURIBUS UNUM.”

The Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness in Idaho is made up of rugged mountains, deep canyons, and wild whitewater rivers, including the Main Salmon River and Middle Fork of the Salmon River. “Frank Church” was attached to the site’s name in honor of late U.S. Senator Frank Church, who played a leading role in its preservation. The area is the largest single connected wilderness in the contiguous States and contains four national forests.

The Salmon River Mountains, located south of the Main Salmon and west of the Middle Fork, are the most massive range, and dominate the Wilderness. North of the Main Salmon River are the Clearwater Mountains, east of the Middle Fork are the Bighorn Crags. The Salmon River Canyon is one of the deepest gorges in North America, deeper even than the famous Grand Canyon of the Colorado in Arizona. But in contrast to the Grand Canyon, the Salmon River Canyon is not noted for sheer walls and towering heights, but instead for the variety of landscapes visible from the river; wooded ridges rising to the sky, huge eroded monuments and bluffs and slides, picturesque castles and towers, and solitary crags. The United States Congress designated the Frank Church-River of No Return Wilderness in 1980 and it now encompasses a total of 2,366,757 acres.

The 5 oz silver America The Beautiful Coins (ATB’s) all resemble a Washington quarter but are significantly larger (76.20 millimeter diameter) and contain 99.9% silver at a weight of 155.5 grams. Each coin depicts a United States National Park on the reverse and John Flanagan’s 1932 portrait of George Washington on the obverse. Inscriptions on the obverse are UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRUST, and QUARTER DOLLAR. The edges of these 5 oz silver bullion coins are smooth and contain the incused inscription: .999 FINE SILVER 5.0 OUNCE. The coin will be sent to you in a protective Capsule.
