2022 Mexican Libertad 1/2 oz Gold Coin BU
Product Description
The Mexican Libertad Gold Series can be considered the successor to Mexicos famous gold Centenario. The latter was a 50 peso gold coin issued in 1921 to honor the nations centennial of independence and was issued annually for 10 years at first. In 1981, the Mexican Mint introduced the Libertad Series with a gold bullion coin bearing the same designs from the original Centenario. Today, you have the chance to get 2022 Mexican Libertad 1/2 oz Gold Coins online at Provident Metals.
Highlights:
- Arrives with an individual protective flip!
- 26th coin in the Mexican Libertad 1/2 oz Gold Series!
- Contains 1/2 Troy oz of .999 pure gold.
- On the obverse is the coat of arms of Mexico.
- The reverse features Winged Victory.
The design used on the Mexican Libertad Gold Coin today was modernized with the 2000 release, but prior to that, the series had used the same images as the gold Centenario. From 1981 to 1999, the Mexican Libertad Gold Coins used the front-facing image of Winged Victory with the mountain peaks of Popocatepetl and Iztaccihuatl just visible in the background. The modern design is more removed in its view of Winged Victory and captures the statue in three-quarter-profile relief.
Obverse
On the obverse of 2022 Libertad 1/2 oz Gold Coins, you will find the coat of arms of Mexico. This design features a golden eagle in left-profile relief as it battles with a serpent using its talons and beak. The duo is on a prickly pear cactus with a wreath of oak and laurel beneath. The inscription on this side reads ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS.
Reverse
The reverse side of the 2022 Mexican Libertad Gold Coin features the effigy of Winged Victory. In this design, the statue of Winged Victory from the top of the Mexican Independence Victory Column is featured in slight left-profile relief. Victory boasts large wings as her right hand is extended with a laurel wreath crown and her left holds a set of broken chains. Inscriptions on this side of the coin include 1/2 ONZA, ORO PURO, 2022 LEY .999, and the OM mint mark of the Mexican Mint.
History
The 1/2 oz gold coin in the Mexican Libertad Series offers one of the lowest mintages in the series. Its lowest recorded mintage came in 2008 when just 30 coins were issued, while its record mintage remains the 1981 debut issue with 193,000 coins sold.
