Obverse

In the obverse design of 2023 Somalia Gold Elephant Coins, you will find the national coat of arms of Somalia. The images found on this side include a crowned shield with a background of horizontal lines and a single star at the center. The shield is supported by leopards on either side with leaves and spears beneath.

Reverse

For the reverse field of the 2023 1/10 oz Gold Elephant Coin, the Bavarian State Mint depicts an African bush elephant in right-profile relief. This design shows an elephant reaching into the trees with its large trunk as it dines on leaves. The sun is featured along the top rim of the design field.

History

Somalia Gold Elephant Coins began to expand away from 1 oz gold in 2016. The fractional-ounce coins in the series include 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, 1/10 oz, 1/25 oz, and 1/50 oz gold. This puts the 1/10 oz at the center of the range of fractional-ounce options in the series.
