Queen Elizabeth II is on the obverse of 2023 Australian Lunar Rabbit Gold Coins. Her Majesty features here in right-profile relief at the age of 89 wearing the George IV State Diadem Crown. This design is the sixth-and-final portrait of the Queen to grace Australian coins following her passing on September 8, 2022. Inscriptions include ELIZABETH II, AUSTRALIA, 2 OZ 9999 AU, and 200 DOLLARS.
Reverse
For the reverse design of the 2023 Lunar Rabbit 2 oz Gold Coin, you will find an image of a rabbit. In this design, the rabbit is shown speedily running through a field. This design comes from Ing Ing Jong who has been involved in the Lunar Series collections from the mint since 2013. Inscriptions include the Chinese symbol for a rabbit, RABBIT, 2023, and the P mint mark of Perth Mint.
History
Ing Ing Jong was hired at Perth Mint in 2011 as a coin designer. Her first contribution to lunar collections came during the Lunar Series II program in 2013 when she created the silver Year of the Snake design.
