Obverse

Reverse

In the reverse design element of 2023 1/25 oz Gold Philharmonic Coins, Thomas Pesendorfer created the image of musical instruments as a reflection of the members of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. This collection of instruments include a cello, four violins, a harp, a bassoon, and a horn.

History

1/25 oz Austrian Gold Philharmonics debuted in 2014 with sales of 78,551 coins. While the series jumped in demand the next year, mintages fell by nearly 50% in the period 2017 to 2019. In 2020, the onset of the COVID pandemic pushed demand higher and the 1/25 oz coin hit a mintage of 119,230 coins that year.
