Santa Claus is depicted in the obverse design of these 1 oz Naughty or Nice Silver Rounds. This depiction of Santa has many of the traditional images, such as his thick, white beard, mustache, and rosy cheeks. Hes even shown wearing a typical Santa cap.

Reverse

The figure of Krampus on the reverse of the Naughty or Nice Silver Round couldnt be less like Santa Claus on the obverse. This figure in right-profile relief is horrifying to behold with his haggard face, thin hair, horns, and a long, creepy tongue.

History

Santa and Krampus are opposing numbers to one another in the folklore of Alpine cultures from Central and Eastern Europe. While Santa is still associated with nice and naughty children alike, Krampus exists specifically to try and frighten the misbehaving children of the world into behaving before Christmas.
