History

Following his death, Tutankhamuns body was laid in a series of 3 coffins, each fitting inside the other. However, the designers did not consider the length of the sarcophagus and ended up having to shave the end off of the outer coffin. No one bothered to sweep up the shavings and they were still there when Howard Carter discovered the tomb over 3000 years later. Also present were over 5000 artifacts, including the iconic golden death mask.
