Obverse

The Hall of Prayer for Abundant Harvests is on the obverse side of 2023 Chinese Gold Panda Coins. This design was created for the series in 1982 and has featured on all coins issued in this series over the last four decades. The design shows the exterior of the building from within the Temple of Heaven Complex.

Reverse

For the reverse design, the 2023 30 Gram Gold Panda showcases two Giant Pandas. This unique species of bear from the central highlands of China has featured on the reverse of these coins every year, but the design is ever-changing. The Chinese Mint only repeated a panda design once, in 2002.

History

Chinese Gold Panda Coins debuted with four weights in 1982, with a fifth added in 1983. The 2001 date mark brought about new face values for the coins, while the 2016 date mark brought a change from Troy oz to Gram for the weights.
