Obverse

In the obverse design of the 2023 Chinese Gold Panda Coin, you will find a depiction of the Hall of Prayer for Abundant Harvests. The design shown here was first used in this series in 1982 and has remained on the obverse of all gold and silver coins in the collection since that time. The image captures a view of the building from the front looking up its main staircase toward the front doors.

Reverse

For the reverse face of 2023 15 Gram Gold Panda Coins, the Chinese Mint features an image of two Giant Pandas. In this years unique design, the mint features one panda up in a tree as another stands on the ground leaning against the trunk. The pandas are gazing at each other and appear to extend their paws toward one another.

History

Chinese Gold Panda Coins have been available annually since 1982. The program is famous for its use of new designs each year, with only the 2002 date mark offering a repeat design. That repeat use of the 2001 design was met with contempt by investors and the mint promptly returned to using new designs each year.
