Design

On the obverse of 1/2 oz Silver Stackers, there is a close-up depiction of the Doggaebi on a shield. The entire image and shape of these stackers are based on the shield used by Chiwoo in the fan-favorite Chiwoo Cheonwang collection from KOMSCO. The design features the Doggaebi in a forward-facing position with a sneaky smile on his face. You will also see decorative patterns in the background and along the sides of the stacker. Please note that because of their stackable nature, the reverse of these pieces simply contains an impression of the front design.

History

The Doggaebi (sometimes spelled Dokkaebi) is a sneaky character who appears in Korean folklore and mythology. Generally, the Doggaebi is believed to ward off evil spirits and bestow good luck upon humans. However, in some stories, the Doggaebi is depicted as more of a deceptive trickster who may not have the protagonists best interest in mind. They also may punish characters who behave in an evil or amoral fashion.
