History

The Yazoo tribe enjoyed a healthy and robust life near the Mississippi Delta until the arrival of settlers in the 1700s. The tribe was ultimately destroyed following the Natchez War between the French and Native Americans. Following the conflict, remaining members of the tribe who had fought with the Natchez against the French were sold into slavery or assimilated with the Chickasaw tribe.
