Obverse

On the obverse side of 2023 Canadian Platinum Maple Leaf Coins, you will find a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. This is the fourth-generation effigy of Her Majesty and was created in 2003 by Susanna Blunt for the Royal Canadian Mint. It is the second portrait of a monarch from a Canadian artist and the first of Elizabeth II’s reign to lack a crown.

The reverse face of the 2023 1 oz Platinum Maple Leaf comes with the sugar maple leaf design. Created in 1979 by Walter Ott, this natural depiction of the sugar maple leaf has appeared on all versions of the Canadian Maple Leaf bullion series since that time.
