In the obverse design of the 2023 Australian Gold Kangaroo Coin, the mint features a depiction of Queen Elizabeth II. This is the final time that Her Majesty will appear in this series and her longevity as Queen of England is noted in the double date of 1952-2022 on this side of the coins.

For the reverse field of 2023 1/2 oz Gold Kangaroo Coin, Ing Ing Jong offers a vision of the kangaroo. The design shows the kangaroo in a seated position as it looks back over its shoulder toward eucalyptus trees and grass on the horizon in the distance.

Australian Gold Kangaroo Coins have new reverse designs each year. Ms. Jong is one of Perth Mints most accomplished designers, having worked on major Perth Mint coins dating back to 2013 when she created her first Lunar Series program design.
