Obverse
Queen Elizabeth II is on the obverse side of the 2023 Australian Gold Kangaroo Coin. This design was created by Jody Clark in 2015 for the Royal Mint and is the sixth-generation portrait for Australian coins. The image shows the Queen in right-profile relief wearing the George IV State Diadem.
Reverse
A kangaroo is featured in the reverse design of 2023 1/10 oz Gold Kangaroo Coins. Ing Ing Jong is shown here as it looks over its shoulder to the horizon. As it looks back into the distance, it can see a eucalyptus tree and other shrubbery.
History
This is the final appearance of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse of Australian coins. Following her death in September 2022, the mint is working to develop a new portrait of King Charles III. The design field includes a date mark of 1952-2022 to honor the reign of Queen Elizabeth II.
