Obverse
Queen Elizabeth II features on the obverse of 2023 Australian Silver Koala Coins for the final time. Her Majesty is shown here in right-profile relief with the George IV State Diadem. These coins feature a commemorative date mark of 1952-2022 to honor her 70-year reign following her passing in September 2022.
Reverse
A mother koala is depicted in a gum tree on the reverse of 2023 1 oz Silver Koala Coins. This design shows the mother koala climbing the trunk of the tree as its young joey clings to its back in the process. This is the second design in a row in the series with a design from Ing Ing Jong.
History
As with many of the recent issues of the Australian Silver Koala, the 2023 coins not only come in 1 oz silver, but also 1 kilo silver. While the 1 oz coin has a limited mintage, the 1 kilo coin does not have a mintage cap.
