History

New Mexico legalized the cultivation, sale, and use of recreational cannabis in 2021 with the passage of House Bill 2. The bill required a special legislative session to finally pass, with the House voting 38-32 in favor of the bill and the Senate voting 22-15 in favor. Governor Lujan Grisham signed the bill into law on April 12, 2021.
