The included First Strike label indicates the arrival of the coins for certification. To qualify, the coins must be received within the first 30 days following the US Mints release of the coins.

Obverse

For the obverse design of the 2023 American Gold Eagle Coin, the United States Mint features Augustus Saint-Gaudens classic Lady Liberty design. First used in 1907, this full-length figure of Liberty is set in front-facing relief with a torch in her right hand and an olive branch in her left.

Reverse

In the reverse design field, the 2023 1/4 oz Gold Eagle Coin features the image of the American bald eagle. Designed by Jennie Norris, this work of art focuses on the head of the eagle as it is set in left-profile relief with detailed visuals for its physical features.

History

American Gold Eagle Coins are currently available in BU and Proof versions from the US Mint, with 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, and 1/10 oz weights in those programs. The Burnished version featured all four weights from 2006 to 2008, but as of 2011, it only has a 1 oz gold option.
