History

Dupres 18^th-century Angel coin design was simple in nature, but the story associated with the coin and its designer helped it go down in history. Dupre was accused of sympathizing with the revolution in France in the 1790s and allegedly escaped the guillotine courtesy of his angel coins. He bribed his guards with a few angel coins to earn his freedom, escaping death and the guillotine.
