For the reverse side of the $3 Indian Princess Gold Coin are inscriptions of the date and denomination inside a wreath. This wreath design consists of corn, wheat, cotton, and tobacco. This design was also created in 1854 by James B. Longacre.

History

Indian Princess Gold Coins were initially offered in 1854 in a smaller format. Known as the small dollars, these coins were issued for just one year before the mint enhanced the format of the coins. Longacre served as the 4^th Chief Engraver of the United States Mint and designed the $1 US Gold Coin around the same time he created this $3 US Gold Coin design.
