Obverse

Queen Elizabeth II is on the obverse of 2023 Australian Gold Mini Roo Coins for the final time in her reign. Her Late Majesty is shown here in right-profile relief at the age of 89 wearing the George IV State Diadem Crown. This image was created in 2015 by Jody Clark for the Royal Mint.

Reverse

A kangaroo is shown in the reverse design of the 2023 1/2 Gram Gold Mini Roo Coin. Though the Mini Roo may be a unique release, it shares the same design elements found on the reverse of the standard gold bullion coins. This design shows a kangaroo seated in right-profile relief as it looks back over its shoulder toward the horizon.

History

Australian Gold Kangaroo Coins debuted in 1990 after being rebranded from the 1986 introduction of the Australian Gold Nugget.
