History

Mintage for the American Gold Buffalo in 2008 rebounded after a drastic drop in 2007. The series debuted with 337,012 coins, the second highest in program history and only recently surpassed in 2021. After that 2006 debut, demand dropped by more than 50%, but rebounded from 136,000 in 2007 to 189,500 in 2008.
