History
In November 1718, Blackbeard’s piratical career came to an end. A naval force led by Lieutenant Robert Maynard was dispatched to capture him. In a fierce battle off the coast of North Carolina, Blackbeard was eventually overcome. He sustained numerous gunshot wounds and multiple sword cuts before finally succumbing to his injuries. Maynard then beheaded Blackbeard and hung his severed head from the bow of his ship, concluding the legend of the fearsome pirate.
