These are proofs with deep-cameo visual keys, which indicate that the coins have strong, frosted matte design elements. PR69 coins are proofs in near-perfect condition with their full, original mint luster and a maximum of two minor detractions.

Obverse

The obverse of 2022-S 1 oz Proof Silver Eagles display the Walking Liberty from Adolph A. Weinman. This design was first used by the United States Mint in 1916 and has also been featured in this series since its debut in 1986. Liberty is shown with the American Flag over her shoulder and holding oaken branches in her left arm. Shes confidently walking to the sunset on the left of the coin. Inscriptions read LIBERTY, 2022, AW, and IN GOD WE TRUST.

Reverse

2022-S Proof American Silver Eagles showcase the flying eagle on the reverse field. This brand-new design from Emily Damstra, shows the bald eagle swooping in with an oak branch in its talons. Inscriptions include UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, ONE DOLLAR, 1 OZ, FINE SILVER, E PLURIBUS UNUM, and S.

History

While the West Point Mint has been home to the Proof American Silver Eagles since 2001, the San Francisco Mint resumed production of this iconic series in 2018. With a limited mintage of 2022-S coins, this coin is among the rarest in the Proof American Silver Eagle Series.
