The reverse face of the 2023 1 oz Gold Britannia Coin exhibits the enduring Britannia effigy. Originating in 1987 by Philip Nathan, the design depicts Britannia in left-profile relief. She is portrayed clutching an olive branch resting on a shield with one hand, while the other hand holds a trident. Adorning her head is a Corinthian helmet.
