History
Morgan Silver Dollars were struck from 1878 to 1904, again in 1921, and most recently in 2021. Assistant Engraver George T. Morgan designed both the obverse and reverse fields of these coins, lending his name to the coin program itself. The pre-2021 coins contained .7734 Troy oz of fine silver, while today’s versions contain .858 Troy oz of .999 pure silver. A variety of different mints have struck Morgan Silver Dollar Coins but as of 2021, just the Philadelphia, Denver, and San Francisco locations minted this well-known coin program.
