Each 1935 Peace Silver Dollar Coin available here is designated as Mint State 65+. These coins boast attractive mint luster with only a few small, scattered contact marks or two larger marks. You may find one or two small patches of hairlines on these coins. The “plus” indicator signifies that these coins are at the top end of the MS65 grade and offer more visible brilliance than other MS65 coins.
Obverse
The obverse design of the 1935 Peace Dollar Coin features a left-profile bust of Liberty. This design, created by Anthony de Francisci, presents a softer image of Liberty with a grand crown atop her head and flowing hair.
Reverse
On the reverse face of the 1935 Peace Silver Dollar Coins, you’ll find an elegant depiction of an American bald eagle peacefully perched on a rock cliff. This design symbolizes the nation’s longing for peace in the aftermath of World War I. The eagle is depicted with only an olive branch of peace as it sits with its wings by its side.
History
The Peace Silver Dollar series was primarily minted during the 1920s. Starting in 1921, these coins were released annually until 1928. After a hiatus from 1929 to 1933, the series made a final appearance in 1934 and 1935. While the 1922 Peace Dollar had a massive mintage of over 84 million coins, the final two dates, 1934 and 1935, had a combined mintage of just over 7 million.
