History

The 1885 Morgan Silver Dollar had different mintmarks based on the minting facility. The coins minted in Philadelphia did not have a mintmark, while those minted in New Orleans had an “O” mintmark and those minted in San Francisco had an “S” mintmark. Coins from the Carson City Mint include a “CC” mint mark. The mintmark can be found on the reverse side of the coin, below the eagle.
