History

The early years of production faced some challenges due to issues with the dies and variations in quality. In 1887, a new design for the reverse side of the coin was introduced, featuring an eagle with a smaller head and larger wings. This design, known as the “1887 Reverse of 1878,” was used until the end of the series in 1904.
