Struck each year until 1904, this remarkable coin took a break and then made a comeback in 1921 after 17 years. In 1921, when the US Mint brought back the silver dollar, they used George T. Morgan’s original design. George T. Morgan was also the 7th Chief Engraver of the United States Mint at that time. He had to create the Morgan Silver Dollar dies all over again because the original dies were lost.
