Obverse

The front of the 2024 Austrian Gold Philharmonic Coin shows the grand Great Pipe Organ. This organ is found in the Musikverein, a historic place where the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra plays. It was built in 1870, and the Great Pipe Organ was added later, in the 1910s.

Reverse

On the back of the 2024 1/10 oz Gold Philharmonic Coins, you’ll see a delightful image of musical instruments. These instruments are commonly used by members of the Vienna Philharmonic. The centerpiece is a cello, flanked by two violins on each side. Other instruments like a bassoon, harp, and French horn add to the artistic design.

History

The Austrian Gold Philharmonics series started in 1989 with 1 oz and 1/4 oz gold coins. In 1991, they introduced these lovely 1/10 oz gold coins. These coins were first valued in Austrian Schillings and later switched to the Euro in 2002.
