Each 2023 2 oz Antique Malta Silver Knights of the Past Coin is presented in clear, acrylic glass displays with a wooden base. A Certificate of Authenticity accompanies each coin. The coins themselves showcase an antique polish throughout, with the armor of the lead Maltese knight on the obverse gilded in 24-karat gold.

Obverse

Observe Maltese knights in formation on the obverse of the 2023 Antique Malta Silver Knights of the Past Coins, standing in front of the Valetta watchtower. The field also portrays the headquarters of the Order of Malta as the knights besiege Fort Saint Angel in Birgu.

Reverse

The reverse side of the 2023 2 oz Antique Silver Knights of the Past Coins displays the coat of arms of the Central Bank of Malta. A broader shield is clutched in the hands of a Maltese knight, with Maltese knights on either side of the coat of arms at the center.

History

After the loss of Jerusalem in 1291, the Knights established their headquarters on the island of Rhodes. In 1523, they were forced to leave Rhodes after a siege by the Ottoman Empire and eventually settled on the island of Malta in 1530.
