History

The American Gold Eagle series made its grand debut back in 1986, offering a range of weights including 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, and 1/10 oz in the BU Series. The Proof Series initially commenced with only a 1 oz gold coin, later expanding to include fractional-ounce weights in 1988. In 2006, the United States Mint unveiled the Burnished Series, commemorating the 20th anniversary of the Gold Eagle Series. Initially available in multiple weights, it later resumed in 2011 with only the 1 oz coin.
