History

Piscivores are animals whose diets are mainly composed of fish, though they may also eat other aquatic life like crustaceans, mollusks, and insects. Otters have extremely dense fur, which is crucial for their survival in often cold aquatic environments. Sea otters, for example, have up to 1 million hairs per square inch of skin. This fur traps a layer of air next to their skin, which provides insulation. To maintain this insulation, otters spend a significant amount of time grooming and cleaning their fur.
