History

The New Orleans Mint produced Morgan Silver Dollars from 1879 to 1904, after reopening in the post-Civil War era. The mint was active almost every year in that period, except for the initial release in 1878 and the final 1921 issue. In 1888, the New Orleans Mint struck 12.150 million Morgan Dollars, while Philadelphia led production with over 19 million coins.
