Obverse
The obverse of the 1904-O Morgan Dollar Coin displays Lady Liberty in a detailed left-profile relief. This design was reportedly modeled after Anna Willes Williams. Liberty is depicted wearing a Phrygian cap, adorned with a laurel wreath and a coronet crown, surrounded by 13 stars.
Reverse
On the reverse side, the 1904-O Morgan Silver Dollar features a heraldic eagle. Morgan’s design presents the American bald eagle in a front-facing relief, with wings spread and talons gripping both arrows of war and an olive branch symbolizing peace.
History
The 1904 issue of Morgan Silver Dollars marked the last year of annual production for the series. From 1878 through 1904, the US Mint struck new Morgan Dollars every year. The 1904-O Morgan Dollar is notable as the final coin from the New Orleans Mint, which ceased operations in 1909, meaning it did not produce coins in 1921 when the final Morgan Dollars were struck after a long hiatus.
