History

The 1883 Morgan Dollar boasts one of the highest mintages among the four branch mints that issued these coins. The Philadelphia Mint produced the most, striking 12,290,000 coins, while the other mints added substantial amounts as well. The New Orleans Mint contributed 8.725 million coins, the San Francisco Mint issued 6.25 million coins, and the Carson City Mint struck 1.204 million coins.
