Each 1988 1/20 oz Chinese Gold Panda Coin arrives in a sealed plastic pouch. The Gold Panda series originally began in 1982, with this 1/20 oz coin weight added in 1983. Between 1983 and 2000, these coins were issued with a face value of 5 Yuan, which was later increased to 20 Yuan in 2001. The 1/20 oz coin was available until 2015, after which it shifted to a 1-gram weight in 2016.
