Since 1979, the Royal Canadian Mint has produced the Gold Maple Leaf Series, starting with the 1 oz coin. The series later expanded to include several fractional weights, including the 1/10 oz coinone of the first added options. BGASC now offers the 1991 1/10 oz Canadian Gold Maple Leaf Coin.

Each 1991 1/10 oz Canadian Gold Maple Leaf Coin from BGASC is shipped individually in protective plastic. The total mintage for this year was 322,000 coins. These coins also feature the second-generation portrait of Queen Elizabeth II used in the series.

Obverse

The obverse of the coin includes a right-profile portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. This version was created in 1990 by Dora de Pedery-Hunt and depicts the Queen at age 64 wearing the George IV State Diadem, along with a simple necklace and earrings.

Reverse

On the reverse, youll see a design of the sugar maple leaf. Walter Ott created this image, which has been featured on Gold Maple Leaf coins since their release in 1979 as a national symbol of Canada.

History

The first fractional-ounce Gold Maple Leaf Coins were introduced in November 1982, with the debut of the 1/4 oz and 1/10 oz coins. Additional sizes followed in later years, including the 1/2 oz in 1986, 1/20 oz in 1993, and 1 Gram coin in 2014.
