In 1878, the United States Mint released the Morgan Silver Dollar Series, introducing George T. Morgans fresh designs of Liberty and the bald eagle. This new coin helped restart silver dollar production after a five-year break. Morgan Dollars were made every year from 1878 to 1904 and returned once more in 1921 after World War I. In its talons, the eagle holds both arrows and an olive branch, symbolizing strength and peace. A wreath wraps around the lower half of the image, and the national motto appears above.
