San Francisco Mint Liberty Double Eagles provide insight into the changing methods of gold mining during the California Gold Rush era. These coins were minted with 90% gold and 10% copper. The earliest examples featured gold gathered from placer deposits found in riverbeds and streams. As mining developed, later coins used gold mined from hydraulic and hard rock sources. BGASC now offers 1902-S Pre-33 $20 Liberty Gold Double Eagle Coins.
