Its produced by the Mexican Mint, which has been operating since colonial times and remains active today. For 2025, the Mexican Mint reduced the mintage of Mexican Silver Libertads to a significant degree and chose not to offer any 2025 Mexican Gold Libertads. The BU Silver Libertads, in particular, feature mintage levels at unprecedented lows, suggesting a higher level of scarcity in the future.

Obverse

On the obverse of this coin is the national coat of arms of Mexico. It depicts an eagle devouring a snake while standing on a cactus, a design rooted in Aztec legend and now a key national symbol.

Reverse

The reverse of the 2025 1/4 oz Silver Libertad features the Winged Victory. This current version of the figure was introduced in 1996 and shows her from a side angle, standing proudly atop the Victory Column found in Mexicos capital.

History

The Winged Victory design has appeared in different forms over the decades. One of the most iconic is the Angel of Independence statue built in 1910 in Mexico City. This structure features classical European design elements while honoring Mexican independence and identity.
