First released in 1997, the British Silver Britannia series is one of The Royal Mints signature annual bullion collections. Following the Gold Britannia series introduced in 1987, these coins are produced in a range of sizes from fractional ounces to 1 Kilo. Each 2026 1 oz British Silver Britannia Coin comes in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. Single coins ship in protective flips, while larger orders of 25 come in acrylic tubes, and orders of 500 arrive in Monster Boxes. Each Monster Box contains 20 tubes of 25 coins.

Obverse

The obverse design of the 2026 British Silver Britannia shows King Charles III in left-profile relief. Created by artist Martin Jennings, this design was first used on British coins in late 2022 and does not include a crown.

Reverse

On the reverse of the 2026 1 oz Silver Britannia, Britannia is shown standing in a classic pose created by artist Philip Nathan in 1987. She wears a Corinthian helmet and flowing robes, holding a trident in her right hand and resting her left hand on a shield with the Union Jack, along with an olive branch.

History

The Britannia figure has appeared on coins for centuries, with her earliest recorded use dating back to Roman Emperor Hadrians reign around 119-122 CE. The Roman bronze coins from that period portrayed her as a seated female figure, a design style that has carried forward through history.
