The reverse includes four advanced security features: a latent image, tincture lines on the Union Jack, fine micro-text, and textured wave patterns.

Obverse

The obverse of the 2026 Platinum Britannia features the first portrait of King Charles III created for The Royal Mint. This left-profile design, released in 2022, shows the King without a crown. It was designed by Martin Jennings.

Reverse

The reverse shows Britannia in full figure, holding a trident in her right hand. Her left hand steadies a Union Jack shield while also holding an olive branch, and she wears a Corinthian helmet.

History

During the height of the British Empire between the 18th and early 20th centuries, Britannia became more than an ancient figure. She represented the strength, reach, and naval power of the empire during the Rule Britannia period.
