Each 20 oz Scottsdale Mint Cast Gold Bar is shipped in protective plastic. This bar ranks as the second-largest in the series, just behind the 1 Kilo bar. Cast gold bars typically have engraved hallmarks and display a more rugged appearance compared to the smooth finish of minted bars.

Design

The obverse of the 20 oz Scottsdale Mint Cast Gold Bar includes identifying marks laid out in portrait orientation. The crowned lion, which represents Scottsdale Mint, is positioned at the top. Beneath the lion, you will find inscriptions noting the bars weight, purity, and gold content. The reverse of the bar has no markings.

History

Gold bars made through casting are formed by pouring molten gold into prepared molds. These molds, made of materials like graphite, ceramic, or steel, help shape the bars as the metal cools and solidifies. The gold is first melted to a temperature of about 1,948F (1,064C) before it is carefully poured. This process is flexible enough to create gold bars of many different weights and dimensions.
