Obverse

The obverse of the 2026 Armenian Gold Noahs Ark Coin features the national coat of arms of Armenia. Adopted on April 19, 1992, the design shows an eagle and lion supporting a central shield. These symbols reflect Armenias long-standing history. The shield is divided into four sections with traditional heraldic elements, and a smaller image of Noahs Ark appears at the center on Mount Ararat.

Reverse

The reverse of the 2026 1/4 oz Gold Noahs Ark Coin focuses on the Ark itself, shown floating across the water. A dove carrying an olive branch approaches the vessel, symbolizing peace after the flood. In the distance, Mount Ararat stands beneath a rising sun. The inscriptions Noahs Ark appear in Armenian and English, connecting the biblical story with Armenias cultural identity.

History

The biblical account in Genesis 6:1416 outlines the size and structure of the Ark. It was to be 300 cubits long, 50 cubits wide, and 30 cubits high. These measurements are commonly estimated at about 134 meters long, 22 meters wide, and 13 meters high, or 440 by 72 by 43 feet. Noah was told to build the Ark using gopherwood, add internal rooms, construct three decks, and seal it with pitch. These instructions describe a carefully planned vessel built for strength and stability.
