History

Wonder Womans first story introduced Diana, princess of the Amazons from the hidden island of Themyscira, once called Paradise Island. After American pilot Steve Trevor crashed on the island, Diana won a tournament that allowed her to escort him back to the outside world and fight for justice beyond her home. Equipped with her indestructible bracelets, the Lasso of Truth, and her iconic costume inspired by the American flags colors, she quickly became a fan favorite. Her popularity was so strong that by the summer of 1942 she had her own solo title and was firmly established as one of DCs most important heroes.
