Product Description

The American flag we know today has gone through many updates since it was first introduced in 1777. That first version had thirteen stars and thirteen stripes to represent the founding colonies. Now, SilverTowne is honoring that symbol of unity with a silver bar that can actually be divided by hand into smaller pieces. BGASC is pleased to offer 1 oz SilverTowne Divisible American Flag Silver Bars.
Highlights:
- Arrives in a protective plastic flip!
- American flag design theme!
- Silver bar easily divides into four 1/4 oz silver pieces!
- Hand-divisible silver!
- Contains 1 Troy oz of .999 pure silver in total.
- The obverse features the SilverTowne mint mark and identifying hallmark for each quarter piece.
- On the reverse is a singular American flag design.
Each of these 1 oz SilverTowne Divisible American Flag Silver Bars is packaged in a protective flip. This silver bar is made to be easily dividedeither into halves or quarters. When separated, the reverse design is split between the pieces, with one holding the field of stars and the others showing sections of the stripes. Even though the bar is split, every piece includes its own mint markings and identifying hallmarks.
Obverse
The obverse of the Divisible American Flag Silver Bar displays the SilverTowne mint mark and hallmark details. These include the weight, metal purity, and contentshown in vertical layout on each of the quarter-ounce segments of the bar.
Reverse
The reverse features the modern American flag, which has stayed largely the same since the early 1800s. The only part of the design that changes is the number of stars, which has grown to fifty, the last being added in 1960 when Hawaii became a state.
History
After the country was founded, Congress originally updated both the stars and stripes for each new state, but by 1795, the design became hard to manage. That changed in 1818 with the Flag Act, which locked in the thirteen stripes for the original colonies and allowed new stars to be added each July 4 as new states entered the Union.
