Obverse

On the obverse of the 1894 Liberty Gold Eagle Coin, youll find Christian Gobrechts design of Liberty. This portrait, introduced in 1838, shows Liberty wearing a coronet and is surrounded by 13 stars, with the date positioned at the bottom.

Reverse

The reverse of the 1894 $10 Liberty Gold Eagle displays the US heraldic eagle. This design shows the bald eagle holding the national shield, arrows, and an olive branch. Above the eagle is a banner with the national motto, which was added in 1866 to this series.

History

The $10 Liberty Gold Eagle saw increased production in the 1890s, with several US Mint locations contributing. In 1894, the Philadelphia Mint produced over 2.4 million of these coins, continuing the tradition after the Carson City Mint was closed in 1893.
